The ascendance of Nero to the Roman throne
(Nero Sestertius (CNG coins |
October 13, 54 AD: Nero becomes Emperor of Rome.
In the year 66 AD during his reign, the Great Jewish revolt erupted in Judea, as a result of Greek and Jewish religious tension and the lack of Roman Authorities ability or will to delicately dismantle the crises. This revolt is famous for Romans breaching the walls of Jerusalem and destroying the Second Temple of Jerusalem in 70 AD, after Nero's death.
In some Christian traditions Nero is known as the killer of the Apostles Peter and Paul.
