UN Security Council adopts resolution 338

October 22, 1973 - The 17th day of Yom Kippur War: UN Security Council adopts resolution 338, calling for a ceasefire within 12 hours.
Despite this call, the war continued for two more days with both sides blaming the other for ignoring the resolution.
