A pagan altar in Jerusaelm's Temple
Kislev 15 (the ninth month of the Hebrew Calendar), 167 BC: An altar for Zeus is set up in Jerusalem's Temple by the Seleucid Greeks.
Next week, Jews around the world will celebrate Hanukah to commemorate the liberation of Jerusalem and its Temple by the Maccabees, from the hands of the Greeks in 165 BC.
