Ptolemy, the King of Egypt

November 7, 305 BC: Ptolemy I Soter, a Macedonian general under Alexander the Great, becomes King of Egypt.

He and his dynasty will control the Holy Land for the next 100 years, while granting freedom of religion to its Jewish residents.
