The Battle of El Alamein

November 3, 1942 – Battle of El Alamein in the North Africa (WWII):

The advancing Axis forces led by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel are brought to a halt by the British under the command of Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery, only 315 miles away from what today is the Israeli Egyptian border.
