The destruction of Samaria by the Hasmoneans

Kislev 21 (the ninth month of the Hebrew Calendar), 107 BC:

Maccabean leader John Hyrcanus captures and destroys the city of Samaria, along with a reinforcement of 6,000 Hellenic troops from the Seleucid Empire, after a siege which lasted a whole year.
