December 29, 1901: JNF is founded

The JNF (Jewish National Fund) was founded in order to buy and develop lands in the Holy-Land, which back then was under the Ottoman Empire.
During its 112 years of existence, JNF has planted over 240 million trees on 227,300 acres, built 240 dams and reservoirs which supply 40% of Israel's agricultural water, developed 250,000 acres of land, established more than 1,000 parks and acquired over 2.8 million hectares of land for settlement.
