February 27, 1945: The Jewish Infantry Brigade arrives at the frontline of WWII in northern Italy

The Jewish Infantry Brigade Group was a British Army brigade which was assembled entirely of Jews, mainly from the Holy Land (then under the British Mandate to Palestine), as part of the Jewish community's volunteering program to the British army. Britain had decided on its establishment towards the end World War II - in July 1944. At its peak, the brigade consisted of around 5,000 troops.

The Jewish Brigade participated in the battles which crashed the last German defense in northern Italy. With the end of the war and the surrender of the Axis forces, the Jewish Brigade continued its mission as a Military administration in Europe. 

Within this framework, the brigade's soldiers handed assistance and mental rehabilitation to Holocaust survivors and assisted with their emigration to the Holy Land.
